Competition Terms & Conditions
The promoter is: Goodbye Flys Limited, company number 10802931. Our main trading address is Higher Eworthy Farm, Eworthy, Germansweek, Beaworthy, Devon, EX21 5AH. This address should also be used for correspondence relating to the competition.
- The competition
- The title of the competition is “Search for a Star”.
- This is a competition to find a new brand ambassador and sponsored rider to represent the Goodbye Flys brand.
- The winner of the competition will be expected to represent the Goodbye Flys brand as a brand ambassador. They will be expected to share their knowledge and experience of Goodbye Flys products in their social media activities and in public. Where reasonable and appropriate to do so, they will wear and use Goodbye Flys branded clothing and accessories.
- Full details of the brand ambassador role and how the Promoter will help promote the winner will be shared with the top 100 entrants who reach the final stage of the competition.
- How to enter
- The competition has three stages. Entry to the first stage must be made by completing the competition entry form available via the Promoter’s website at [INSERT COMPETITION URL]. The entry form will be available for completion from 9am on 24 September 2020 (the “Opening Date“) to 9pm on 15 November 2020 (the “Closing Date”) inclusive. All first stage entries received after 9pm on the Closing Date will be automatically disqualified.
- The entrant must complete all sections of the online entry form. Incomplete entry forms will be disqualified.
- All entrants who have competed the entry form prior to the Closing Date will be sent an email inviting them to post a video on either Facebook and/or Instagram. This will be Stage 2 of the competition.
- The email will contain details of what each entrant needs to do to complete Stage 2. This will include:
- Shooting a video of up to 60 seconds in length and should feature your favourite Goodbye Flys product and your top tips for using it. Only one video per entrant should be submitted.
- Posting the video to Facebook and/or Instagram and tagging the Promoter in the post. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the video complies with all of Facebook and Instagram’s rules and policies.
- All videos must be uploaded to Facebook and/ or Instagram by 9pm on 22 November 2020 (the “Video Submission Date”). Any entrants who do not submit their video by the Video Submission Date will automatically be disqualified from the Competition.
- After the Video Submission Date, the Judges will review all entry forms and videos in accordance with the Stage 1 and Stage 2 Judging Criteria. The Judges will then select the top 100 videos and these entrants will progress to Stage 3 of the Competition.
- The entrants who have submitted the top 100 videos, as selected by the Judges, will be sent an email by the Promoter during the first week of January 2021 confirming that they have been selected to progress to Stage 3 of the Competition. They will each receive a rosette, a 1 litre bottle of a Goodbye Flys Show Shine product and an invitation to attend a Goodbye Flys training camp.
- Stage 3 of the Competition involves attending a Goodbye Flys training camp. Training camps will be held between February and April 2021 in a number of locations across the country. The Promoter will invite entrants to the training camp which they consider is best suited for the entrants. This will be decided according to location and other criteria (for example, teenagers may grouped together and selected to attend the same training camp and the date will, so far as possible be organised for a date within school holidays.) If you cannot attend the designated training camp, please inform the Promoter as soon as possible and the Promoter will endeavour to arrange for you to attend an alternative training camp. If this is not possible, or you are unable to attend the alternative training camp you will be deemed to have withdrawn from the competition.
- Details of the training camps and what will be expected of the entrants will be included in the email to the entrants who have been selected to progress to this stage of the competition. Entrants are reminded that the purpose of the competition is to find a good brand ambassador for the Promoter and the Goodbye Flys products. Therefore, what is required and/ or expected of the Entrants may vary between them depending on their age, experience and role (for example there will be different expectations on grooms compared to riders, teenagers compared to adults.)
- Entrants progressing to Stage 3 of the Competition must reply to the Promoter’s email by no later than 9pm on 17 January 2021 confirming their intention to attend the training camp on the specified day. Failure to respond by this time will result in the entrant being disqualified from the competition. At the same time, entrants must provide all of the information requested by the Promoter. This will include:
- The name of the entrant participating in the training camp;
- Confirmation as to whether they are attending as a rider or groom;
- The name of a parent or guardian who will be attending the training camp with the entrant if the entrant is under 18 years old;
- Confirmation that they have a horse passport and that it will be kept fully up to date prior to the training camp.
- In the event that the Promoter has to cancel or postpone any of the training camps, or if the Golden Ticket day out is cancelled or postponed, the Promoter will take all reasonable steps to provide alternative days, venues and / or prizes.
- No purchase is necessary for entrants to enter the competition.
- The Promoter will not accept:
- responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
- proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
- By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you are under 18 years of age, you must obtain a parent or guardian’s permission to enter this competition and they must submit the Stage 1 entry form on your behalf and respond to any emails or other correspondence from the Promoter on your behalf. By doing so, they are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions and take full responsibility for your participation in the competition.

- Judges and judging criteria
- The competition entries will be judged by a panel of three judges. The judges will all be skilled and experienced in their particular field, for example: PR, teaching, grooming and turnout.
- The decision of the panel of judges will be final.
- The judging criteria for each stage of the competition is as follows:
- Stage 1 – Entry forms. The purpose of the entry form is to indicate your intention to participate in the competition and to give the Judges some background information about your knowledge, experience and desire to become a Goodbye Flys brand ambassador.
- Stage 2 – Video shoot. The video should be up to 60 seconds in length and should feature your favourite Goodbye Flys product and your top tips for using it. Judges are looking for creative ideas, confidence in front of the camera and the ability to articulate your ideas. Only one video per entrant should be submitted.
- Stage 3 – Attendance at a training camp, either as a rider or groom. Rider and grooms will receive some coaching and then be given an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. Riders and grooms will both be judged on the turnout of their horses. Riders and grooms will also participate in mock interviews and PR exercises to see how they perform under pressure.
- At all stages of the competition, the judges are looking for someone who will be a good brand ambassador. They are not looking for perfection but a willingness to learn, be open to feedback and a desire to improve. A good brand ambassador will be kind, caring, fun and demonstrate a willingness to share their knowledge and experience. Children under the age of 18 should, to the best of their ability, complete the entry form themselves and use their own ideas in the video.
- Further details of the judging requirements for Stage 2 and Stage 3 will be sent to the entrants via email if they have successfully completed the previous stage and have been chosen to progress through to the next round of the competition.
- Eligibility
- The competition is only open to everyone aged 13 years or over, except:
- employees of the Promoter;
- employees of agents or suppliers of the Promoter who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
- members of the immediate families or households of (a) and (b) above.
- In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition. If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian is confirming your eligibility to enter the competition and claim any prize you may win.
- The Promoter will not accept competition entries that are:
- automatically generated by computer;
- illegible, have been altered, reconstructed, forged or tampered with; or
- There is a limit of one entry per person. Joint submissions are not allowed.
- The Promoter reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.
- The competition is only open to everyone aged 13 years or over, except:
- The prize
- The prizes for each stage of the competition are described in more detail on the Website.
- There are 100 prizes available for entrants who are chosen to progress to Stage 3 of the competition based on the contents of their entry form and video submission. The prize is a rosette and a 1 litre bottle of Goodbye Flys Show Shine. The rosette and bottle of show shine will be available for collection at the training camp. If you are unable to attend the training camp, they will be posted to you.
- There are 15 prizes available for entrants who are chosen by the judges to be the top 15 performers in Stage 3. The prize is:
- A Goodbye Flys Golden Ticket with two individual passes to attend a Goodbye Flys Hospitality day in 2021 location to be revelled in 2021 . You will spend the day with the Goodbye Flys team and have entry to the Goodbye Flys hospitality area (food and drink included). Winners are responsible for their own travel arrangements for getting to and from the venue; and
- a bucket containing a selection of Goodbye Flys products and goodies valued at approximately £53.00. This will be available for collection on the day at the Goodbye Flys Hospitality day location to be releveled near the time. If you are unable to attend, it will be posted to you.
- From the top 15 entrants selected by the judges there will be an overall first prize winner and two runner ups of the competition who will each become Goodbye Flys brand ambassadors. In addition, they will be awarded the following prizes:
- First prize – a year’s sponsorship from Goodbye Flys, a £1,500 training bursary, 2x Goodbye Flys branded saddle pads, a jumping rug and dressage and a rug, a hat bag, polo shirt, cap, grooms bag, a bucket containing 6x 1 litre bottles of show shine and 4x 1 litre bottles of shampoo, a yard visit to meet the Goodbye Flys team horses, a winner’s rosette and a feature (including a photo shoot) in a lifestyle magazine. The training bursary is to be used for equestrian related training. Training requirements will be discussed between the winner and the Promoter and will be paid direct by the Promoter.
- Runner ups prize – a polo shirt, hoodie, grooming bag, cap, Goodbye Flys goodie bucket including 1x 1 litre bottle of show shine, 1x 1 litre bottle of shampoo, sponge, cloth and face applicator
- Entrants participating in Stage 3 of the competition will be responsible for arranging and the cost of their travel to and from the training camp plus their own accommodation if needed. Stabling for one horse per entrant can be provided by prior appointment. Entrants must supply hay, feed and bedding for their horses. Lunch is provided but entrants are responsible for providing all other food and drink.
- Prizes are subject to availability. There is no cash alternative for any prize or part of it. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any prize or part of it with a prize of equal or greater value.
- The prize is not negotiable or transferable.
- Winners
- The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
- The Promoter will contact the winners of Stage 2 and Stage 3 personally as soon as practicable after the judges have made their decision. They will use either the telephone number or email address provided with the competition entry.
- If any of your contact details change during the time the competition is running, you must notify the Promoter as soon as possible.
- The first prize winner and runners up will be announced at the Goodbye flys Golden ticket day out day out. Therefore, if you one of the top 15 entrants who are selected to attend the event you must confirm your attendance. If you are unable to attend for any reason, you must notify the Promoter as soon as possible. Non-attendance will not disqualify you from the possibility of winning. If you are the winner or a runner up and you do not attend the event, you will be expected to take part in an alternative promotional event that will be arranged by the Promoter.
- The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winners. If any winner cannot be contacted or is not available within 14 of days of the judges making their decision, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received before the Closing Date.
- The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
- To comply with its legal obligations, the Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will publish the surname and county of major prize winners and, if applicable, their winning entries on the Website.
- If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact the Promoter via email at info@goodbyeflys.com. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request. However, you must remember that the purpose of this competition is to find a brand ambassador for Goodbye Flys so if you object to receiving publicity about this competition you must seriously consider your suitability as a brand ambassador.
- Limitation of liability
Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up any element of the prize or participating in the competition except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
- Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights
- The Promoter does not claim any rights of ownership in your competition entry.
- You agree that the Promoter may, but is not required to, make your entry available on its website and any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the competition. You agree to grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the competition entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes.
- The training camps (including interviews and mock PR activities) and attendance at the Golden Ticket Event may be filmed and photographs taken. By participating in the competition, you agree that images and video of you (both as an individual and in groups) may be used on the Promoter’s website, on its social media and in any of its other advertising and marketing materials.
- Data protection and publicity
- The Promoter will only process your personal information as set out in the [LINK TO PRIVACY POLICY]. See also condition 4 and condition 7.8, with regard to the announcement of winners.
- General
- If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
- The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
- These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
